Monthly Tutorials.
Each month I will introduce a tutorial, I may return to a tutorial if I feel any of you missed out on one you wanted to see. This months Tutorial is Goku from Dragonball Z.

First start with the basic circle, draw a line straight through it and then add the chin shape on the bottom.The chin should be at the bottom of the line so make sure this line isn't too long, the chin should also start at the sides of the head, the jaw line even. Notice how the face is divided up and how large the forehead seems, don't worry about this as is should be ok when adding the hair.

Now on the eye line draw two block shapes, these are as you guessed the eyes, make sure that there even in shape and size although you shouldn't take too much time on them. Both eyes should be i denticle and symetrical. Add some ears, now Dragonball Z charaters have huge ears, so to make them look right you to also have to give them large ears, start them higher then the eyes and end roughtly half way between the bridge of the nose, the ears are almost identical too.

Right now do a large think L for the nose and under that draw a little bridge for the mouth, see how I've but a shadow under the lip, this shows the bottom of the lip without drawing it and making it look stupid.Add the eyes by basicly filling them in, some eye brows which are just two more blocks and the hair, the hair can be quite tricky so don't worry if you take some time on it, now you don't have to add the flick of hair at the front as Goku doesn't and never does have that, I just like to make the picture mine in a special way.

Finally round every thing off untill your happy with it, add more detail under and over the eyes if nessary, draw in a neck and maybe some clothes and bodabing, you got yourself a Goku! Just remember Dragonball Z charaters are strong and big in muscle so make the neck start somewhere around the ears are then arch out two lines, put some detail in there to, otherwise you got yourself a block neck, and trust me that don't look good.

Next a 3/4 profile picture of Goku.

Start by drawing a circle which I haven't done for you here so sorry about that, just use you imagination. Separate the head as before apart from this time give them a shape, as if you wraped cheese wire round someones face, do the same as before and draw the chin off the sides of the circle just giving definition of shape on that far rite hand side(our left). add the jaw bone closes to us and then put in an ear, now remember that the ears have to be large ok? If you know any of the DBZ charaters you will see that this can also turn out to be Vegita, but I like Goku beter so there!

See it's vegita! now add the nose on the First line but make it piont out this time! You'll notice that the eyes don't fit in between the two lines, don't ask why it's just easier, it allows you to place the nose and mouth in the rite place that's all. When drawing the eyes remember the one in the backround has to be smaller and maybe a different shape, just for proportions sake. When adding the mouth this time I made it look like a skateboard, point upwards as to show..I don't know, a bit of evilness?!?

This is where it can get difficult. Firstly the hair is now a different shape and you have to show there is a fringe there, so make lines over laps or sprout from each other. remember the hair won't go into the back of his head but his neack, so draw that in. Again add detail to the eyes by adding a brow this time, the shadow uunder the lip line and the pupils.

Now all I've done here is add more detail, like the shine in the pupils although DBZ charaters rarely have this. Make the neck more bulky as you will now see more muscle in the neck as you look at it from the side, add his little garment and ofcourse the chect, please I've seen many people do this, don't go over the top with the muscles, it never looks right unless the person you are drawing is about 19ft tall! lol like Brolly!
